Matthew Maire, CAE, RCE has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CCAR. Maire began on September 1, and is expected to bring his knowledge of REALTOR® association leadership, education, and government affairs with him to CCAR.
Maire served as the CEO of the Greater Kalamazoo Association of REALTORS® (GKAR), a 1,200 member REALTOR® association that serves a significant portion of southwestern Michigan. In addition to his CEO responsibilities, Maire was also the Director of the Michigan Real Estate Academy, one of the states' premier real estate training institutions. Wholly owned and operated by GKAR, the Michigan Real Estate Academy offers prelicense training for those pursuing a career in the field of real estate, as well as ongoing education and training for REALTORS® and licensed real estate agents. Maire also served as an officer of the Southwestern Michigan Regional Information Center, a cooperative of seven local REALTOR® associations.
Maire was a member of the Michigan and American Society of Association Executives, as well as several other committees and task forces on the state and national REALTOR® level. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity and Residential Opportunities Inc., two organizations in the Southwest Michigan region that help citizens who aspire to be a part of the American Dream of home and property ownership.
Prior to joining GKAR, Maire was the Executive Director of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association in Lansing, Michigan. He began his career at the association in 1995, as the organization's Director of Government Relations. Previously, Maire also worked as a lobbyist in Washington D.C., while employed by a government relations firm based in Arlington, Virginia. He has worked in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Michigan House of Representatives.
In his "spare" time, Maire is a husband and father to three beautiful and healthy children, and is very active in local organizations including his church, local government and Mattawan Little League. He is a 1993 graduate of Hope College in Holland, Michigan with degrees in political science and English. |
