Government Affairs/TREPAC April Recap
Thursday, April 25
It was another productive and informative Government Affairs/TREPAC meeting this month. Our guest speaker was Mr. Shelby Williams, Plano City Councilman and current candidate for Collin County Republican Party Chair. He gave great insight to the committee about talking politics online and expressed the importance of engaging in meaningful topics on social media. He stands firm that even though politics can get sticky if done with grace and meaning, you can lead some great conversation that connects people. He also gave an in-depth look at what happens behind the scenes during the election/voting process.
Williams thanked the CCAR Government Affairs/TREPAC committee for their commitment to political education year-round. The grassroot efforts made at the local level are the most important steps in creating policy changes. Your local-level politicians are the people who take that feedback to your State and National representatives. If you are interested in joining this committee, we invite you to our next Government Affairs/TREPAC committee meeting on Thursday, May 23, from 3-5 p.m. in the CCAR Plano Banquet Room.
We also had our very own CCAR Past President and Texas REALTOR® Regional Vice President, Marvin Jolly, educate the committee on RPAC and TREPAC. He talked about how the PACs run and are connected and what we can do to support them both year-round.
