Government Affairs/TREPAC May Recap

Thursday, May 23

Last month's meeting kicked-off with our guest speaker, Jamie Kohlmann. At the time of the meeting, Kohlmann was preparing for her run-off election for State Board of Education for District 12, which includes counties such as Dallas, Collin, Grayson, Cook, Denton, and more. She spoke about the need for reform and transparency from schools, and emphasized the importance of attending school meetings. School votes are not public record, and she encourages parents to attend meetings and know what's going on within your child's districts.

While we do focus on the real estate industry here, it's important to note that real estate touches nearly every aspect of daily life. What goes on in schools, including district budgets and all, directly impact real estate. We appreciate Kohlmann for taking the time to speak with us!

The second part of our meeting was spent talking with CCAR member, Sherry Smith. Smith was recently inducted into the TREPAC Hall of Fame for reaching the $100,000 investment level. She talked about the importance of brokers creating a TREPAC environment in their offices. She believes the best way build that environment is by action. If an agent sees their Broker believes in the power of TREPAC and chooses to invest, they are also more likely to believe and invest. If you would like to get your office in the spirit of TREPAC,  please reach out to Brian Guild, CCAR's Member Retention Specialist, who will help schedule an office visit with members of our team and committee. You can reach Brian at brian@ccar.net or by phone at 972-618-3800.

We would like to cordially invite you to this month's Government Affairs/TREPAC Committee meeting. This meeting will take place on Thursday, June 27, from 3-5 p.m. in the Plano Headquarters Banquet Room.
