Quick action by Collin County members, Government Affairs staff, and the community helped stop a proposal by West Crossing HOA in Anna, Texas to restrict all rentals in the community and impose severe fines for non-compliance.
Action: In June, Jason Petrie, Collin County Area REALTORS® Government Affairs Director (GAD), swiftly engaged fellow REALTORS® and the community, and requested help and funding for an opposition campaign from the Texas REALTORS® Issues PAC (TRIP). TRIP approved funding for the campaign, and the TR governmental affairs team initiated the opposition campaign with deliverables including mail, web ads, a website.
Impact: Big Win! In mid-June, the West Crossing HOA board canceled the vote and tabled the resolution. The opposition campaign did not need to roll out, because of REALTORS®' quick response, local engagement, and collaboration. A major win for property rights in Collin County!
